I cannot believe that we are entering September tomorrow–this summer has flown by!
And while I am beyond excited for fall, I wanted to take a second to look back on some of my favorite August food-based finds!
(Although…I am not really sure that sweater season will have the same vibe in Florida!)
Trader Joe’s Sparkling Coconut Water with Yuzu I grabbed these on a whim and I am so glad that I did! While I usually do not like the flavor of coconut water, the yuzu adds a delightful citrus flavor that pairs with it beautifully! The coconut water also makes them incredibly refreshing as it is a natural source of electrolytes…aka it keeps us hydrated. Enjoy over ice or maybe with a splash of light rum!
Stanley Dupe Tumbler Speaking of hydration, this Simple Modern tumbler has gotten me through my first Florida summer. It is not only aesthetically pleasing, but it also holds 40 ounces of liquid–helping me hit my water intake goals. I have also been using packets of LMNT electrolytes to keep me going on the days I cannot stop sweating! I choose unflavored and opt to add a few squeezes of my own lime or grapefruit–I just find the flavored options to be too sweet.
Mid Day Squares If you follow me on Instagram, you know these are an absolute obsession of mine. Most days I am juggling starting a business, graduate school, tutoring…you get it (and probably relate!). This means that I sometimes find myself choosing to skip lunch and power through whatever I am working on. Unfortunately, when I skip a meal, that means I will be overeating later–and that is where these come in! With 6 grams of protein and 4 grams of fiber, they allow me to get in a little something to hold me until I am able to eat a real lunch. Plus, they come in a variety of delicious flavors like chocolate chip, peanut butter (my favorite), brownie, and almond crunch.
Homemade Oat Flatbread After discovering this recipe on The Big Man’s World, I have been enjoying these more than regularly. I have tweaked the recipe a bit by blending ⅔ cup almond flour with herbs for flavor then mixing with ⅓ cup almond milk. Here are a few of my favorite flavor pairings:
Plant You by Carleigh Bodrug This book is a must have for anyone who wants to learn how to cook. Carleigh is absolutely incredible and she provides you with quick, simple, and healthy vegan recipes that anyone will love. For those who eat meat, her recipes make the perfect base or side for chicken, shrimp, fish…you name it. The recipes are only part of why I love this book. Carleigh has an incredible way of teaching you flavor profiles along the way. This means that you will get the gist of what foods and spices to pair together, allowing you to learn how to freestyle on your own in the kitchen.
I hope you enjoy! “See” you in September!
